A warm welcome awaits you at Malling House - Michael and Wendy will try to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible.

Previously a doctor's house, Malling House is situated in Newfield, a hamlet 2 miles from the Roman town of Chester-le-Street. All 3 rooms are en suite and have comfortable divans with free view TV and tea/coffee-making facilities. The decor and furnishings are of good quality and are well maintained to a high standard to ensure a comfortable stay.

Breakfast consists of a choice of several cereals, followed by an English grill, toast with preserves and a choice of orange juice, tea and coffee. The dining room is to the rear of the house and has fabulous unspoilt views towards the Derwent Valley. The local Newfield Inn is a short step over the road and we have several good eating places within a 3 mile radius.

We are within 5 miles travelling distance of the following attractions - Beamish Museum, Angel of the North, Tanfield Railway, MetroCentre, Durham City and Cathedral, Durham County Cricket Club, C2C Cycle Route and golf courses.

Road Directions

Leave A1(M) at jct 63 and take A693 signposted Stanley/Beamish Museum. Fourth turn-off signed Pelton and Newfield. First right past school opposite Newfield Inn.

Public Transport Directions

From Chester-le-Street - 3 miles
Leave station on east side. Walk down to main Street. Turn left, walk to Market Place. Bus 78 Consett comes past the guest house.
